Privacy Policy
Last Sip is designed to work with as little personal data as possible. The calculator runs in your browser session, camera frames stay on your device, and barcode lookups are only sent when you choose to scan.
This policy describes the current low-data implementation of Last Sip, including the consent-based Web Analytics described below. It must be updated before adding ads, accounts, newsletters, payments, embedded media or other third-party tools.

What Data We Process
- Drink search, selected drink and wake-up time are kept in temporary browser memory. Last Sip does not store these inputs in an account, cookie, local storage or database in the current implementation.
- Camera access starts only after you press Scan and approve the browser permission. Barcode scanning is processed locally in your browser. Last Sip does not receive, store or transmit camera frames.
- When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to Last Sip's barcode API route, which requests product information from Open Food Facts. The request is used to identify the product and estimate caffeine content.
- Like most websites, the hosting provider may create technical logs, such as IP address, browser or device information, requested URLs, timestamps and error data, to deliver and secure the service.
- If you accept analytics in the banner shown on your first visit, Vercel Web Analytics records page views (URL, referrer, approximate location down to city level, device and browser type, timestamp) and a set of named usage events: which drink you selected, barcode scan results (including the product name and estimated caffeine amount), which wake-up time preset you used, camera permission issues, and which FAQ topics you opened. Vercel identifies visitors through a hash that is discarded after 24 hours, not a cookie. Your accept/reject choice itself is remembered in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again on every visit; if you reject, none of this is sent.
- If you contact us by email, we process your email address, message content and related metadata so we can respond.
Why We Process It
- To provide the calculator and barcode lookup you request.
- To keep the site secure, debug errors and prevent abuse.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To understand which features are actually used, if you consent to analytics.
Where EU or UK data protection law applies, the legal basis for hosting, security and responding to you is generally our legitimate interest in operating and securing a low-data website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or taking steps you request before entering into any contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Web Analytics events only run after you actively accept them in the on-site banner, so their legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by rejecting in the banner again or clearing your browser's local storage for this site. Camera access depends on your browser permission and can be revoked in browser or operating-system settings.
Third Parties
Barcode lookups use Open Food Facts, an open food-products database. Last Sip sends the scanned barcode to Open Food Facts from the server route, not the camera image. Open Food Facts returns product data that may include name, brand, nutriments and serving quantity.
The website is served by Vercel. Vercel processes technical request, security and infrastructure data needed to deliver and protect the service. If you accept analytics, Vercel additionally processes Web Analytics data as described above under "What Data We Process".
Hosting And Security Logs
Hosting is provided by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. Hosting logs may include IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp and error information. Last Sip does not define a custom application log retention period in the current implementation; Vercel processes hosting and security logs according to its own platform documentation, privacy policy and data processing terms.
International Transfers
Vercel is a US-based hosting provider. Where EU/EEA personal data is transferred internationally, transfers should be covered by Vercel's data processing terms and applicable safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
Cookies And Local Storage
Last Sip does not set any cookies. Your browser's local storage is used for exactly one thing: remembering whether you accepted or rejected the analytics banner, so we don't ask again on every visit. If you accept, Vercel Web Analytics is loaded and records the data described above using a 24-hour visitor hash rather than a cookie or persistent identifier. If you reject or take no action, Web Analytics never loads and no usage data is sent. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which brings the banner back. If ads, embedded media or further non-essential tools are added later, this policy and the consent flow must be updated before those tools go live.
Retention
Calculator inputs are session-only and disappear when the page is refreshed or closed. Barcode lookup requests are not stored by Last Sip's application code in the current implementation. Hosting logs and email messages should be kept only as long as needed for security, troubleshooting, legal obligations or responding to the request.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, receive a portable copy of data you provided, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise rights, use the privacy contact listed above.
Children
Last Sip is not directed to children. If you are under the age at which you can consent to online services in your country, use Last Sip only with a parent or guardian.
Health And Safety
Last Sip provides educational estimates about caffeine clearance. It is not medical advice, does not diagnose or treat sleep disorders, and should not replace advice from a qualified clinician.
Changes
We may update this policy when the service, providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
